The Amazing SUP Race - Sunday 28 August 2010 5/9/2010
St Kilda Stand Up Paddle recently partnered with Uplift events for the 2010 Amazing Race around Melbourne - In the largest public event hosted to date, close to 400 participants hit the streets of Melbourne in the ultimate urban adventure race. Racing to raise funds to support the Royal Childrens Hospital Foundation, participants were faced with various challenges including kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Street Stand Up Paddling, rock climbing and even trying out Melbournes new bike share.

It all started from the Belgian Beer Cafe Bluestone where teams ran, climbed, walked, paddled, rode and laughed their way all over Melbourne to try and claim the title of the 2010 winners of the Great Amazing Race. Batty Girls, The Slag Brother and The Brickies won the event in the respective female, male and mixed categories. A total of $11,992.42 was raised for the Children's Hospital.

A big thumbs up to the all participants, most of whom had never tried SUP before and took to the activity with great gusto and enthusiam! The fancy dress teams such as the Ballerina girls pictured and the Shane Warne lookalikes provided great entertainment!! Great job everyone! Bring on 2011, it promises to be even bigger!! A big thanks to Sam and the team from Uplift Events, it was a great day!
